چکیده

Determining the limits of species is still a major area contention, particularly when diagnostic differentiating characters are subtle and there contradiction between morphological genetic data. The lesser whitethroat (LWT) complex Curruca curruca represents an interesting study system to address this issue. Here, we use phylogeny-, admixture- principal component analysis- (PCA-) based analyses on whole-genome sequence data parapatric LWT taxa C. c. curruca, halimodendri, zagrossiensis althaea investigate prevalence importance gene flow in geographical where evidence suggests clinal transition populations. results suggest that populations Zagros Mts may represent lineage historically diverged from topotypical two lineages later coming into secondary contact with extensive as result. There no hybrid zone or cline Mts. On other hand, for halimodendri. also show possible admixture complex, extralimital sampled area, but nature needs be evaluated larger set.

Cryptic speciation in the Lesser Elaenia Elaenia chiriquensis (Aves: Passeriformes: Tyrannidae).

Tyrant-flycatchers (Tyrannidae) are a taxonomically confusing bird group containing a large degree of cryptic diversity that has only recently begun to be unraveled through the application of acoustic and molecular methods. We investigated all three subspecies of the Lesser Elaenia, Elaenia chiriquensis Lawrence, across their range using sound recordings as well as nuclear and mitochondrial mar...

Disentangling Timing of Admixture, Patterns of Introgression, and Phenotypic Indicators in a Hybridizing Wolf Population

Hybridization is a natural or anthropogenic process that can deeply affect the genetic make-up of populations, possibly decreasing individual fitness but sometimes favoring local adaptations. The population of Italian wolves (Canis lupus), after protracted demographic declines and isolation, is currently expanding in anthropic areas, with documented cases of hybridization with stray domestic do...

Systematic relationships and biogeography of the tracheophone suboscines (Aves: Passeriformes).

Based on their highly specialized "tracheophone" syrinx, the avian families Furnariidae (ovenbirds), Dendrocolaptidae (woodcreepers), Formicariidae (ground antbirds), Thamnophilidae (typical antbirds), Rhinocryptidae (tapaculos), and Conopophagidae (gnateaters) have long been recognized to constitute a monophyletic group of suboscine passerines. However, the monophyly of these families have bee...

Phylogeny and classification of the New World suboscines (Aves, Passeriformes).

Here we present a phylogenetic hypothesis for the New World suboscine radiation, based on a dataset comprising of 219 terminal taxa and five nuclear molecular markers (ca. 6300 bp). We also estimate ages of the main clades in this radiation. This study corroborates many of the recent insights into the phylogenetic relationships of New World suboscines. It further clarifies a number of cases for...
